Material Poetry

Using a 50 million candlepower, voice encoded light source, Instruments of Material Poetry constructs a powerful micro-gravitational environment that levitates a dense cluster of microscopic graphite particles in a vacuum chamber, mirroring the celestial mechanics of deep space.

Photon Voice

Designed for the National Endowment for the Arts project Desert Sun | Desert Moon, Photon Voice creates a 94 million mile transmission line between the sun and earth used to teleport a performers sounds, images, and movement through use of amplitude modulated radiation pressure from intense desert sunlight.

Sky Chasm

Commissioned for Documenta 8, Sky Chasm was an environmental installation and cyclical performance series that uses lasers, custom optics, electronics, dance choreography and the flow of museum crowds to create dramatic time-travel differences between phase-entangled photon pairs .

Celestial Vaulting

Celestial Vaulting is an holographic interferometry installation that magnifies tiny wavefronts of laser light 25 million times their size and converts them into sound. The artwork is sensitive enough to register photon time-travel differences as small as 250 millionths of a meter, picking-up a visitors heartbeat, or the  blink of an eye.

Aqua Echo

Aqua Echo is an real-time interactive ice crystal nucleation installation engineered to grow microscopic ice crystals based on direct environmental input from performance and audience activities. Ultra-pure water in an ultra-cold isolation chamber reacts to performance events on a microscopic scale, freezing large-scale prismatic ice formations as records of the event.

Liquiesence

Liquiesence was commissioned by the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, New York, for the first American Design Triennial. Designed and executed in collaboration with "LOOM Studio" architects, the project used both architectural and digital media elements to suggest spatial and temporal experiences which are in a constant state of becoming.

Aurora

Aurora is a commissioned permanent light installation for a private collector in New York City. A special formulation of PMMA was created to produce massive ice-like crystals. Visitors create brilliant coloured holographic shadows on the crystals as they pass between the work and a massive 19th century French Baroque gilt mirror.

Secret Agents.

Secret Agents was a collaborative, commissioned e-opera performed by legendary actor Karen Black. In the role of a cyborgic agent that was remotely controlled and inhabited in realtime by seven University of California researchers, Black explores the notion of agency, presence and absence, identity and identification.

Alchymeia

Alchymeia is a nanotechnology and bioengineering public artwork commissioned for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Naturally occurring metabolite steroids are harvested from the blood and urine of athletes to act as doping agents in ultra-pure, ultra-cold water, guiding the growth of impossibly rare ice crystals with radically altered architecture.
